Original photographs engrave much better than photographs that are reproduced/enlarged on a computer or one of those picture makers found in discount stores.

Clear 4" X 5" or larger photographs give the best results.  

Wallet sized photos must be enlarged by us several times to be etched on an 8 X 10 plaque.  Enlarging the image only increases the size of the photo, it will not increase the detail of the image.  Because of this the engraved image may look slightly blurry.

We do not recommend engraving a blurry image, as the engraved image will also look blurry.

Subject size is important!  When choosing a photograph to have engraved, make sure the subject (person, car, boat etc.) in the photo takes up the majority of the photograph.  The larger the subject is in the photograph, the more detail there is for the laser to reproduce.

Photos with creases or folds in them as well as scratches will require substantial manipulation resulting in additional cost.  The photo may not even be usable…  Be sure to choose a photo that is in good condition to avoid these additional charges.

Photos with bright spots or dark shadows will etch with bright spots or dark shadows.  Choose photographs with even lighting for best engraving results.
